B.Com Tax Procedures and Practice

The department of commerce and tourism was stared in the year 2015, with one batch B. Com Taxation and Tax procedure as optional and another batch with B. Com Tourism and Travel Management as optional. The first batch passed out in 2018. The Department is blessed with outstanding result and bagged various university ranks during these three years. Well qualified and experienced teachers are the strength of the department who cater to the needs of the students.

The department is committed to pursue excellence in Commerce Education. While equipping students with knowledge and skills in Commerce stream, we try to inculcate moral values, identity their hidden talents, provide opportunities to realize their full potential, create ethical uprightness and thereby shape them to become ideal citizens.

1.In connection with the Independence Day celebrations, a National Essay competition was conducted for the higher secondary students on 15th August 2020. 65 students from different states of India participated. The winners were given cash prizes.

2.Onam celebrations were held through online. Students presented different programmes and were presented through YouTube and Facebook.

3.An international webinar on “IFRS” was organized on 12th October 2020. Mr.Vipin Thomas, Chartered Accountant, New Zealand led the seminar. 92 persons from different countries of the world participated.

4.An MOU was signed with Pope Pius Higher Secondary School, Kattanam for conducting “Adolescent life skill training programme” for the higher secondary students of Pope Pius School. Accordingly the faculty from this department will conduct classes on 10 Saturdays on various topics including personality development, confidence building, motivation, leadership and communication The programme was formally inaugurated on 17th October 2020 by H G. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios ,the Patron and Manager of the College.

5.Two days national seminar on “Entrepreneurial development” was held on 17th and 18th December 2020.Dr. Abraham Punnoose, Professor and HOD of commerce delivered the main talk.75 participants from different states of India attended.

6.Under the leadership of Commerce Department, an Entrepreneurial Development Club was formed in the college on 13th January 2021. 60 students from different classes took membership in the club.

7.The inauguration of ED Club was conducted on 21st January 2021. Sri. T.S. Chandran, District Industrial Officer, Aluva was the chief guest. He also conducted training on ‘Entrepreneurial Skills’ for the members.

9.On 27th and 28th January 2021, a national webinar organized on Research Methodology .Sri. PriyakrushnaMohanty, Assistant Professor, JyotiNivas College, Bangalore was the chief faculty.86 persons from different states participated.

10.The closing ceremony of “Adolescent Life Skill Training programme” was held on 30th January,2021. Fr.ThomasPuthenparampil ,Director of the college delivered the closing message which was presided over by the Principal Dr.K.C.Mathai .
